Petroleum
An integrated double-bill, created in collaboration with Tina Tarpgaard and Sydhavn Teater.
Text by Sydhavn Teater:
The oil flows while desire and impotence rumble in the piece PETROLEUM. Performance hub, P44, forms the framework for a brand new work by Sydhavn Theatre, which is about both beauty and horror in our lives with oil - and all the by-products of oil: Everything from asphalt, nylon stockings, mountains of plastic and vinyl waste, to technologies, cultural products , the dream of unlimited freedom – we owe it all to the transformable oil and its processes and products.
In the work, you meet the award-winning choreographer and performer Hilde I Sandvold in a choreography that balances between desire and powerlessness and embodies the erratic changeability of the oil. And actress Maria Carmen Lindegaard as a woman obsessed with the black gold – and with creating a new oil. An oil that is not forced and ejaculated out of the ground, an oil that can save the world, an oil extracted from her own body
